This will bring widespread heavy rainfall to the region, first in the form of spiral bands of locally heavy rainfall and scattered thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening transitioning to a more stead moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall Tuesday night into Wednesday. The heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Hurricane Ida will then move to the northeast of the area by Wednesday evening with dry weather conditions returning to most of the region by Thursday. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur along and west of a line from Hot Springs to Covington to Blacksburg to Hillsville with lesser rainfall amounts east and southeast of this line.
