The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Pittsylvania County in south central Virginia...

* Until 600 PM EDT.

* At 305 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across central Pittsylvania county especially around 
  Keeling, Dry Fork, and Chatham. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain 
  have fallen during the past hour and additional heavy rainfall is 
  expected during the next hour. Flash flooding is imminent!

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Doppler radar.

  IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
           drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Danville, Chatham, Gretna, Blairs, Callands, Mt Airy and Dry Fork.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Banister River and Allen Creek.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are possible in the 
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING 
FOR PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY...

At 406 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that rainfall had diminished 
within the warned area. However, flooding was reported in the warned 
area from the 2 to 3 inches of rain that fell during thunderstorms 
in the last couple of hours. Flooding remains a concern for a bit 
longer until water levels have had a chance to recede.
