...The National Weather Service in Pueblo CO has issued a Flood 
Warning for the following rivers in Colorado...

  Arkansas River Near Avondale affecting Pueblo County.

For the Lower Arkansas River...including Avondale...Minor flooding 
is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet 
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, 
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, 
stop, turn around and go another way.

* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late 
  this evening to a crest of 7.3 feet just after midnight tonight. 
  It will then fall below flood stage late tonight.
* Impact...At 7.0 feet, Minor Flood. Minor lowland flooding occurs 
  near Avondale
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 7.8 
  feet on 04/24/1942.

Colorado...

  Arkansas River Near Avondale affecting Pueblo County.

.The Arkansas River at Avondale is expected to reach flood stage by 
7am this but is expected to reach Action Stage by this afternoon. 
The River Forecast Center in Tulsa, OK has commented that this is 
expected to be the last flood forecast for this event.

For the Lower Arkansas River...including Avondale...Minor flooding 
is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

.The runoff from yesterday's rains are starting to recede.  The 
river remains above action stage but is receding and is not expected 
to rise again anytime soon. The river remains high and care should 
be taken when near the river or its banks.
