The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Eastern Butler County in southeastern Missouri...

* Until 800 PM CDT.

* At 537 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms 
  producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 
  inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 
  inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already 
  occurring. This Flash Flood warning covers the remainder of the 
  Poplar Bluff metropolitan area, as well as parts of east and 
  southeast Butler County.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported that heavy rain was causing
           flooding in parts of Butler County and western
           sections of Poplar Bluff as of 5 pm.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Poplar Bluff, Qulin and Fisk.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING 
FOR CENTRAL BUTLER COUNTY...

At 707 PM CDT, Thunderstorms that produced the heavy rain across the 
warned area have dissipated. Radar estimates indicated that 1 to 3 
inches of rain fell over the warned area since 4 pm CDT. Butler 
County Sheriffs office and Emergency Management have not received 
any reports of additional flooding as of 645 pm CDT.  If no further 
flooding is reported, the flash flood warning will be allowed to 
expire at 8 pm CDT.
