...The National Weather Service in Spokane WA has issued a Flood 
Warning for the following rivers in Washington...

  Similkameen River near Nighthawk affecting Okanogan County.

For the SIMILKAMEEN RIVER...including Nighthawk...Minor flooding is 
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.

The next statement will be issued this evening at 900 PM PST.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY 
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Similkameen River near Nighthawk.

* WHEN...From late tonight to Wednesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Water will be around the foundation of the 
  home on Allemandi Rd south of the Nighthawk Bridge. Widespread 
  flooding of agricultural land and private property along the river 
  valley. Portions of Loomis-Oroville Road around Palmer Lake will 
  be inundated between Toats Coulee and Chopaka Road. Chopaka Road 
  will be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:30 AM PST Monday the stage was 8.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    just after midnight tonight to a crest of 14.8 feet tomorrow
    afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early
    Wednesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    14.6 feet on 05/17/1997.

.The Similkameen River continues to rise but at much slower rates 
than the last 24 hours.  With drier and cooler weather moving into 
the region, the threat for the Similkameen River to reach flood 
stage has decreased.
