...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EST THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...A strong northward flowing longshore current and a
  Moderate threat for dangerous rip currents expected.

* WHERE...The beaches of Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie
  and Martin Counties.

* WHEN...Through this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Breezy Southeast winds will produce a strong northward
  flowing longshore current today, which can knock swimmers off 
  the sandbar into deeper water and make them more susceptible to 
  dangerous rip currents.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
