...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Rough surf and a moderate risk for dangerous rip 
  currents.

* WHERE...Southern Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, 
  Coastal Volusia and Northern Brevard Counties.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Building swells will produce breaking waves to around
  5 feet in the surf zone. The moderate swells could knock
  swimmers off their feet and make them more susceptible to
  becoming caught in a rip current. Weak swimmers may not want to
  enter the water above their knees.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While rip currents will be present all day,
  the threat will be highest this morning through 12 PM this
  afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
