An upper level disturbance will bring a threat of thunderstorms to Los Angeles and Ventura counties starting late tonight, shifting northwestward into Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties on Sunday. A moist monsoonal pattern will continue to bring a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms to much of Southwest California through at least Monday morning. With higher moisture content across the southern portions of our forecast area, most of the storms over Los Angeles County and the coastal/valley areas of Ventura county are expected to be wetter, however, there is still a threat of isolated dry lightning strikes across the periphery of storms. As storms transition northwestward into Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties as well as the Ventura County mountains, there is a greater threat of drier storms mixing with wet storms, along with gusty outflow winds, resulting in an increased risk of fire ignitions and rapid fire spread in these areas.
