...Increasing Confidence in the Potential for a Significant
Winter Weather Event Tonight into Monday...

.An upper level disturbance will bring abundant moisture tonight
and continuing into Monday. Meanwhile a very cold air mass will
be in place at the surface. Therefore, any rain is expected to
become freezing rain and sleet as early as after sunset today,
then increase in intensity overnight into Monday morning. The
precipitation will change over to snow and sleet for portions of
the interior southeast Texas and west central Louisiana overnight
and early Monday morning, with some snow mixing in for the
remainder of the area mid to late Monday morning into Monday
afternoon. The winter precipitation will gradually end during
Monday afternoon.

The expected winter precipitation amounts, especially ice
accumulations, will have the potential to produce significant
impacts.

Bitterly cold arctic air will then move in as the precipitation
ends. Dangerously cold wind chills will accompany this arctic air
for Monday night into Tuesday morning.

thunderstorms will also occur producing periods of heavier
precipitation. The winter mix will gradually end from west to 
east by the afternoon.

The expected winter precipitation amounts, especially ice and
sleet accumulations, will have the potential to produce 
significant impacts.

Bitterly cold arctic air will continue to move in as the 
precipitation ends. Dangerously cold wind chills will accompany 
this arctic air through Tuesday morning.

...The Winter Weather Has Ended...
...Bitterly Cold Tonight...

.The winter weather has ended, however very little melting will 
have occurred through Monday afternoon. This will lead to 
extremely hazardous roadways across the region as snow and sleet 
form icy conditions. Icy roads will remain a concern through early
Wednesday.

Low temperatures tonight will range from the single digits to near
20. These temperatures combined with northwest winds of 5 to 15
mph will produce wind chills of 5 below zero to 15 above zero. The
lowest wind chills will generally be north of a Silsbee to Buna
line in Southeast Texas and north of Highway 190 in Louisiana.

.Temperatures this morning tonight will range from the single 
digits to near 20. These temperatures combined with northwest 
winds of 5 to 15 mph will produce wind chills of 5 below zero to 
15 above zero. The lowest wind chills will generally be north of a
Silsbee to Buna line in Southeast Texas and north of Highway 190 
in Louisiana. Areas of accumulated ice, sleet, and snow persist 
across many parts of the area this morning, continuing to produce 
hazardous travel conditions.

Another round of wintry precipitation is expected to affect the
area, starting late tonight and persisting through Thursday
morning. Locations across the Texas lakes region and Central
Louisiana will see areas of freezing rain develop after midnight
tonight, with rain continuing and increasing in intensity on
Wednesday, before easing and eventually ending Thursday morning.
Temperatures are currently expected to climb above freezing for a
short time period Wednesday afternoon in this area, but are
expected to fall below again Wednesday night. Accumulating ice is
