...HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Northwest winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts to around 60 mph
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, panhandle, 
  southwest and west central Nebraska.

* WHEN...From late tonight through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power 
  lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be 
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This is expected to be a long duration high
  wind event across western and north central Nebraska. A strong
  cold front will pass through the area tonight. Strong
  northwesterly winds are expected behind the front into the
  overnight hours tonight. Winds will diminish slightly Thursday
  morning, increasing further on Thursday afternoon. Winds will
  diminish slightly Thursday evening, before increasing once 
  again overnight Thursday night into Friday. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this
situation. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe
location prior to the onset of winds.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM CST /8 PM MST/ THIS
EVENING TO 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Northwest winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph 
  expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, panhandle, 
  southwest and west central Nebraska.

* WHEN...From 9 PM CST /8 PM MST/ this evening to 6 PM CST /5 PM 
  MST/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. 
  Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be 
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This will be a long duration high wind
  event. A strong cold front will push through the area this
  evening. Strong northwesterly winds will develop behind the
  front with gusts of 50 to 60 MPH expected. Winds will then
  weaken somewhat overnight into Thursday morning. Strong
  northwesterly winds will then increase Thursday afternoon with
  gusts approaching 65 MPH in some areas. Winds will then decrease
  slightly Thursday evening, then increase overnight into Friday
  morning. Light snow will be possible Thursday night into Friday
  morning in portions of north central Nebraska. If enough snow
  can fall, areas of blowing snow with near blizzard conditions
  will be possible. Persons planning travel tonight through
  Friday, should be very careful on roadways and be prepared for
  strong cross winds. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
