...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AST THIS EVENING FOR THE
SOUTHERN COASTAL PLAINS OF PUERTO RICO...

.Strong gusty winds have been seen across the southern coastal
plains. Though RH values remain above thresholds, in the mid 40s
to upper 50s, fuel moisture continues to be critically low. The
10-hour fuel moisture at Guanica was observed to be 9.57, and the
1-hour was 9.10.

FIRE WEATHER ZONES 014 AND 027...

The National Weather Service in San Juan has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect until 6 PM AST this evening. 

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 014 and 027.

* WIND...15 to 20 mph, with gusts to 25 to 35 mph.

* FUEL MOISTURE...Near or below thresholds. 1- and 10-hour fuel
  moisture was observed today as 7.90 and 8.49 at Camp Santiago,
  9.73 and 10.31 at Cabo Rojo, and 9.10 and 9.57 at Guanica,
  respectively.

* HUMIDITY...RH values between 45% and 60%.

* THUNDERSTORMS...None.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
