...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE
SOUTHERN COASTAL PLAINS OF PUERTO RICO...

.Soils and vegetation continue to be very dry, while a drier than
normal air mass persists into at least midday today, and brisk
winds continue across the region. These conditions are expected 
to result in critical fire weather conditions across the southern 
coastal plains today.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 4 PM AST
THIS AFTERNOON FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONE 014...

The National Weather Service in San Juan has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 10 AM this morning to 4 PM AST
this afternoon. 

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zone 014.

* WIND...Up to 15 to 20 mph, with stronger gusts.

* HUMIDITY...Could briefly reach mid-40s. 10 Hour Fuel Moisture
  below 8%.

* THUNDERSTORMS...None.

* HIGHEST THREAT...South central to southeast coastal plains of
  Puerto Rico, between Ponce and Patillas, including portions of
  Coamo.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
