...The National Weather Service in Jackson KY has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Kentucky...
Red River at Clay City affecting Powell and Estill Counties.
For the Red River...including Clay City...Minor flooding is forecast.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges,
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream,
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route
over higher ground.

* At 6:15 AM EDT Saturday the stage was 16.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this
morning to a crest of 17.7 feet this afternoon. It will then fall
below flood stage later this evening.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Low lying areas flood. Maple street near
the Red River Ranch as well as Pompeii Road off of Highway 15 are
impassable.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 17.7
feet on 03/31/1940.

* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 12:15 PM EDT Saturday was 18.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is cresting, and will then fall below flood
stage late this evening and continue falling to 3.4 feet by
Thursday morning.
* Impact...At 19.0 feet, Moderate flooding begins. Several roads are
impassable in and around Clay City. Some homes are flooded in low
lying areas.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.3
feet on 05/01/2005.
