CDT/ THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous 
  swimming conditions expected. North winds of 10 to 20 mph will 
  lead to waves of 3 to 5 feet by this evening. The wave period 
  will be 5 to 6 seconds, supporting strong current development. 
  Winds and waves from the north will lead to strong structural 
  currents on the north side of piers.

* WHERE...In Indiana, La Porte county. In Michigan, Berrien 
  county.

* WHEN...From this afternoon through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water 
  and high waves can sweep people off piers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
Do not venture out on piers.

CDT/ THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Breaking waves and currents are expected at Lake Michigan
  beaches through this morning, with the greatest risk through 8
  am EDT (7 am CDT). There is a moderate swim risk through late
  morning with waves of 2 to 4 feet, then conditions will likely
  improve to low swim risk for the afternoon as waves subside.
  Note that dangerous currents may continue for hours after waves
  diminish. Even if waves appear low and non-threatening, check
  with lifeguards or beach patrol regarding current presence and
  strength before entering the water. Stay away from any shoreline
  structures, like piers or breakwalls. Currents are always
  present near these features.

  county.
