...FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR A DAM FLOODGATE RELEASE IN EFFECT THROUGH 
MONDAY MORNING...
...FLOOD WATCH IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of central Illinois, 
  including the following area, Sangamon.

* Through Monday morning.

At 1213 PM CDT, Dam operators reported the Spaulding Dam on Sugar 
Creek may experience a significant floodgate release during the 
watch period.

The release of water will cause rapid rises on Sugar Creek,  
downstream of the dam. Rapid flooding of low lying areas along the 
creek may result.

The rest of Sangamon County remains under the Flash Flood Watch due 
to expectations of heavy rain over the next 48 hours.

This Flash Flood Watch replaces the previous Flood Watch in effect 
for Sangamon county.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action 
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

  Piatt, Stark, Tazewell and Woodford. In east central Illinois, 
  Champaign, Douglas and Vermilion. In west central Illinois, Cass, 
  Fulton, Knox and Schuyler.

* Through Monday morning.

* Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, with rain moving in from 
  the south early this morning, continuing through the day and well
  into the evening. Widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are 
  expected across central Illinois, with localized amounts of 5-7 
  inches possible in between I-72 and I-80.
