The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Russell County in central Kansas...
  Barton County in central Kansas...

* Until 1230 AM CDT.

* At 1119 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from 7 miles south of Codell to near Loretta to near
  Frizell, moving east at 45 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable 
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, 
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Great Bend, Russell, Hoisington, Ellinwood, Wilson, Claflin, Lucas,
  Gorham, Pawnee Rock, Luray, Dorrance, Albert, Olmitz, Milberger,
  Bunker Hill, Paradise, Galatia, Susank, Waldo and Great Bend
  Airport.

This includes Interstate 70 between Mile Markers 176 and 205.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 500 AM CDT for central
Kansas.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread
significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately
likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of
a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant
property damage.

FOR RUSSELL AND BARTON COUNTIES...

At 1148 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 9 miles southeast of Natoma to 6 miles north of Olmitz
to 5 miles east of Larned, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable 
         tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, 
         roofs, and outbuildings.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR RUSSELL AND BARTON COUNTIES
WILL EXPIRE AT 1230 AM CDT...
            
The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe
limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However gusty
winds of 45 to 55 mph are still possible with these thunderstorms.
