* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Central Montgomery County in southeastern Kansas...

* Until 815 PM CDT.

* At 720 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Elk City, or
  7 miles west of Independence, moving southeast at 20 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Coffeyville, Independence, Dearing, Elk City, Tyro, Bolton, Elk
  City Lake, Independence Airport, Coffeyville Airport and Elk City
  State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

If on or near Elk City Lake, get away from the water and move 
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you 
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter 
now!  Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to

FOR SOUTHERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY...

At 736 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles southwest of
Independence, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
