* WHAT...Bitterly cold air will continue filtering into the area
  and temperatures will remain well below freezing through most of
  Tuesday...and likely late into the week for locations further
  north from the coast. Minimum wind chills will remain or fall
  below zero. Freezing rain is expected to develop over the area 
  Tuesday night and lift northward on Wednesday through the day. 
  Additional light amounts of freezing rain may re-develop 
  Wednesday night. Ice accumulations will likely range from around
  a tenth of an inch across central areas to a quarter of an inch
  across northern areas.

* WHERE...Southeast Texas.

* WHEN...Wind Chill Warning through noon Tuesday. Winter Storm 
  Warning from Midnight Wednesday through 6 AM Thursday. 

* IMPACTS...Travel will continue to be very difficult through 
  Tuesday morning with ice covered roads. Power outages are

The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a
Winter Storm Warning for Freezing Rain, which is in effect from 6
PM this evening to 6 AM CST Thursday. 

* WHAT...Extremely cold air will be parked over the area this
  morning. Records low temperatures are possible. Much of the
  region will remain below freezing through early afternoon. Areas
  along and south of the Interstate 10 corridor may rise above
  freezing around mid afternoon. Northerly winds of 5 to 15 mph
  combined with the cold air was leading to dangerous wind chill
  readings this morning at 4 am across Jackson County of 5 to 10
  degrees. These wind chill readings will likely fall lower by 7
  am to bottom out at 3 to 5 degrees! Wind chill readings after
  sunrise will begin to rebound but will still be dangerous in the
  10 to 19 degree range as winds increase. Freezing rain is
  expected to develop over Jackson County his evening lift
  northward out of the county by around 3 am Wednesday. Ice
  accumulations may briefly reach 0.10 of an inch before warming
  and melting with rain that follows early Wednesday. Any 
  lingering wet roads could refreeze around sunrise on Thursday in
  the wake of a cold front. 

* WHERE...Jackson county in Southeast Texas.

* WHEN...Wind Chill Warning through noon Tuesday. Winter Storm

* WHAT...Extremely cold air will be parked over the area this
  morning. Records low temperatures are possible. Much of the
  region will remain below freezing through early afternoon. Areas
  along and south of the Interstate 10 corridor may rise above
  freezing around mid afternoon. Northerly winds of 5 to 15 mph
  combined with the cold air was leading to dangerous wind chill
  readings this morning at 4 am ranging from -2 to 10 degrees.
  These wind chill readings will likely fall lower by 7 am to
  bottom out at -5 to 8 degrees! Wind chill readings after sunrise
  will begin to rebound but will still be dangerous in the 7 to 19
  degree range. Late tonight an approaching low pressure system
  will bring a period of dangerous and destructive freezing rain
  across the region. The freezing rain should begin after 6 pm
  across areas generally along and north of the Highway 59
  corridor. Throughout the night and Wednesday morning the
  freezing rain should slowly shift northward and intensify with a
  cold rain spreading northward from the coast in the wake of the
  freezing rain. By late afternoon Wednesday the freezing rain
  should be confined to areas north of a Madisonville to Crockett
  line. Ice accumulations ranging from a trace to a tenth of an
  inch from the 59 corridor northward increasing the further north
  where extremely favorable conditions will be in place from
  Columbus to Conroe to Cleveland. Amounts north of this line
  could range from two tenths of an inch to in excess of one half
  inch. Some locations could see isolated higher amounts. These
  would be devastating amounts of ice.

* WHERE...Southeast Texas.

* WHEN...Wind Chill Warning through noon Tuesday. Winter Storm 
  Warning from Midnight Wednesday through 6 AM Thursday. 

* IMPACTS...Travel will continue to be difficult this morning with
  patchy ice covered roads in some areas across the south and more
  continuous icy roads with some roads simply closed over the
  northern portions of Southeast Texas. Power outages are ongoing
  and combined with the extremely low wind chills it is important
  to protect people, pets and pipes. Icy conditions will worsen
  quickly across the region tonight with the freezing rain. Very
  dangerous driving conditions from icy roads are expected.
  Vegetation and powerlines will become coated with ice and as the
  ice accumulates will lead to breaking tree limbs and power
  lines. Downed trees and lines could further challenge travel
  attempts. The power outages could well worsen. Even though some
  areas may thaw out briefly the potential for refreeze will be 
  high Wednesday night with another cold front bringing 
  subfreezing temperatures back across the region.

  highest totals from two tenths of an inch to in excess of one
  half inch will be to the north of a line from Bryan/College
  Station to Huntsville to Groveton. Some locations could see

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...A low pressure system will bring a period of dangerous
  and potentially destructive freezing rain across the region
  today. Freezing rain was already accumulating across the
  northern portions of the warned area but the areal extent will
  expand southward this morning as more precipitation moves in. As
  temperatures begin to slowly rise this afternoon from south to
  north the freezing rain should begin to change over to rain. Ice
  amounts are expected to range from a trace to a tenth of an inch
  along an north of the Highway 59 corridor with higher amounts in
  excess of one quarter inch north of a line from Columbus to
  Conroe to Livingston. Some locations could see even higher
  amounts. These higher amounts of ice may be very destructive,
  with the potential to create additional power outages and
  vegetation and tree damage. Temperatures will fall back below
  freezing tonight as colder air spreads south in the wake of a 
  cold front. Any residual liquid water on roads or sidewalks will
  quickly refreeze. Some light snow or sleet may also fall 
  Thursday morning in the wake of the front though accumulation 
  amounts should be very light on the order of a trace.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...A low pressure system will bring a period of dangerous
  and potentially destructive freezing rain across the region into
  the early afternoon. Ice amounts are expected to range from a
  trace to a tenth of an inch along an north of the Highway 59
  corridor with higher amounts in excess of one quarter inch north
  of a line from Columbus to Conroe to Livingston. There is the
  potential for this magnitude of ice to be very destructive, 
  with the potential to create additional power outages and 
  vegetation and tree damage. At 1000 AM, highway 105 west and FM 
  1486 in Montgomery County were iced over. 
 
 Temperatures will fall back below freezing tonight as colder air
 spreads south in the wake of a cold front. Any residual liquid 
 water on roads or sidewalks will quickly refreeze. Some light 
 snow or sleet may also fall Thursday morning in the wake of the 
 front though accumulation amounts should be very light on the 
 order of a trace. 

* WHERE...Inland areas of Southeast Texas.

* WHEN...Through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Icy conditions will worsen quickly across the region 
  this morning. Very dangerous driving conditions from icy roads 
  are expected. Travel should be avoided unless absolutely 
  necessary. Vegetation and powerlines will become coated with 
  ice and as the ice accumulates to around or above one quarter 
  inch, will lead to breaking tree limbs and power lines. The 
  power outages already present in many locations could worsen. 
  Even though some areas may thaw out briefly, the potential for 
  refreeze will be high tonight with another cold front bringing 
  subfreezing temperatures back across the region. Any roads 
  that remain wet when subfreezing temperatures return will 
  freeze quickly. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of ice are
expected or occurring.

Travel is expected to become impossible across northern portions
of the area.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM CST THIS AFTERNOON 
UNTIL NOON CST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Temperatures will fall below freezing tonight as colder
  air surges into Southeast Texas. Any residual liquid water on
  roads or sidewalks will quickly refreeze. Periods of very light
  snow or a mix of light sleet and snow will be possible after 3
  AM and will linger into Thursday morning. Snowfall
  accumulations, if any should be less than two tenths of an 
  inch.
  

* WHERE...Inland areas of Southeast Texas.

* WHEN...Through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...The threat for additional heavy precipitation has
  ended. However, roadways and other surfaces will remain ice
  covered and very slippery as residual water quickly refreezes
  after sunset. Any roads that remain wet when subfreezing
  temperatures return will freeze quickly. Ice covered trees and
  powerlines will remain ice ladened and the weight of the ice 
  could cause some trees to fall or large limbs to break. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel is expected to become extremely difficult across northern 
portions of the area.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
