The National Weather Service in League City has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northern Houston County in southeastern Texas...
* Until 645 AM CDT.
* At 334 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 9 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly. At least one swift water rescue has already occurred in
the area to the east of Grapeland.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Doppler radar.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

WITH A FLOOD WARNING...
With rainfall diminishing across the warned area, the Flash Flood
Warning has been replaced with an Areal Flood Warning. Despite
rainfall tapering off, roadways still remain flooded. Take extreme
caution if traveling and do not attempt to drive through flood
waters.
