...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...
...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM CDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Strong rip currents and minor coastal flooding due to 
  elevated tides and moderate wave run-up along area beaches around 
  times of high tide are expected. 

* WHERE...Matagorda Islands, Brazoria Islands, Galveston Island 
  and Bolivar Peninsula Counties.

* WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, until 8 PM CDT this 
  evening. For the Beach Hazards Statement, until 5 AM CDT 
  Monday.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away 
  from shore into deeper water. Flooding of lots, parks, and roads 
  with only isolated road closures expected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The High Rip Current Risk will be replaced for the
  Beach Hazards Statement to include minor coastal flooding around times of 
  high tides tonight. 


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
