  Southwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 245 PM EDT.

* At 200 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Marion,
  moving east at 40 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind 
           damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Marion, Belwood, Old Fort, Casar, Chimney Rock State Park, South
  Mountains State Park, Thermal City, Pleasant Gardens, Glenwood and
  Sunshine.

RUTHERFORD...NORTHWESTERN CLEVELAND AND SOUTHWESTERN BURKE COUNTIES
WILL EXPIRE AT 245 PM EDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire.  However gusty 
winds and heavy rain will remain possible over portions of 
northern Rutherford into Cleveland County through around 330 PM.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
much of western North Carolina.
