* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Polk County in western North Carolina...
  South Central Rutherford County in western North Carolina...
  North Central Spartanburg County in upstate South Carolina...

* Until 1215 AM EDT.

* At 930 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain 
  are estimated to have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 
  2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is 
  ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar based precipitation estimates.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Mayo, Chesnee and Harris.

Most of the heavy rain will fall into the Broad River basin. 
Low-lying areas along the Broad River and tributaries, including 
Hensons Creek and McKinney Creek in Rutherford County, are most 
likely to experience flooding. Low-lying areas along Buck Creek in 
northeast Spartanburg County are likely to flood, along with some 
roads, especially Mahaffey Cooley Road.

* Until 230 AM EDT.

* At 1116 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  continuing accumulation of heavy rain across the warned area. 
  Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall 
  amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible with additional storms 
  through early Sunday morning. Small creeks and streams are likely 
  to rise out of their banks and some roads will flood.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

have already been reported flooded, along Cooley Springs School Rd. 
Along the Broad River and tributaries, including Hensons Creek and 
McKinney Creek in Rutherford County, minor flooding is also 
particularly likely. Standing water may take some time to recede 
early Sunday morning.
