South Central Mecklenburg County in the piedmont of North Carolina...
* Until 815 PM EDT.
* At 511 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in areas on the southeast side
of Charlotte. The expected rainfall rate in this area is 1 to 2
inches over the next hour, with an additional 1 to 3 inches of
rainfall possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

EVENING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL MECKLENBURG COUNTY...
At 639 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
showers slowly tapering off across the Flash Flood Warning area.
Radar and rain gauges indicated that some 2 to 4 inches of rain fell
in the past three hours. Additional rainfall of one-half inch is
expected in the area before the rain ends. Flash flooding is ongoing
in the McAlpine Creek, McMullen Creek, and Little Sugar Creek areas.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

Flooding along McMullen Creek will impact Sharon View Road and
locations near Rustic lane. Flooding from McMullen Creek above
