The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Transylvania County in western North Carolina...

* Until noon EDT.

* At 743 AM EDT, As much as 5 inches of rain had already fallen 
  early this morning across along the Transylvania and Jackson 
  County border, and excessive runoff will continue thoughout the 
  French Broad River headwaters.  Flooding of moderate intensity 
  will continue to be seen throughout greater Rosman and flood 
  conditions will develop downstream throughout Brevard and Blantye 
  as the morning wears on.  Select tributaries of the French Broad 
  River, such as the Davidson River will also flood.


  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Gauges reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Brevard, Rosman, Looking Glass, Lake Toxaway, Gorges State Park,
  Balsam Grove, Connestee, Penrose and Sapphire.

At 1033 AM EDT, Gauge reports indicated that high water conditions 
around Rosman had started to receded and the flood wave will 
translate downstream, resulting in developing French Broad River 
flood conditions around Brevard and Penrose.
