* Until 900 PM EDT Thursday.
* At 911 AM EDT, The USGS streamgauge along Beaverdam Creek above
Elberton is reporting significant flooding of adjacent low-lying
areas and significant inundation of low-water crossings including
at Horse Farm Rd, Brickyard Rd, and Winns Mill Rd. Residents
along Beaverdam Creek are urged to seek higher ground and drivers
are urged to obey all barricades and seek an alternative route if
there is water in the roadway.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Elberton, Bowman, Dewy Rose and Vanna.
No additional heavy rainfall is expected through the early afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the
* Flood Warning for...
Northwestern Elbert County in northeastern Georgia...
Southwestern Hart County in northeastern Georgia...
* Until 800 PM EDT Friday.
* At 649 PM EDT, The USGS streamgauge along Beaverdam Creek at
Brewers Mill Rd is currently at 13.05 feet and steady, which is
above the Moderate Flood Stage of 12.00 feet. This follows an
earlier crest of 16.53 feet, which occurred on Thursday at 9:00am
and was above the Major Flood Stage of 15.00 feet.
* Beaverdam Creek continues to cause unusual, significant flooding
of adjacent low-lying areas from Vanna to Bowman to Dewy Rose to
northern Elberton. Several low-water crossings are still
inundated by up to 2-4 feet of floodwaters, including Winns Mill
Rd, Brickyard Rd, and Horse Farm Rd. Floodwaters may also still
be impacting Brewers Mill Rd, Pulliam Mill Rd, and Vanna Rd.
Structures adjacent to Beaverdam Creek may also continue to be
threatened at these levels, including the former Red Minnow
Restaurant.
* Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways especially because
these floodwaters are deeper than usual and your risk of getting
stuck or swept away is especially high and the road may have been
washed away underneath. These unusually deep floodwaters have
already washed away culverts and damaged road surfaces.
Barricades will remain in place even after floodwaters have
receded to allow crews to assess road stability so please find an
alternative route to get to your destination safely.
* Beaverdam Creek will gradually recede overnight tonight, falling
below Moderate Flood Stage by 2:00am, below Minor Flood Stage by
Friday morning, and below Action/Advisory/Bankfull Stage by Friday
evening, as long as additional heavy rainfall does not occur.
However, additional heavy rainfall and resultant new rises are
possible through Friday afternoon, so do not let your guard down.
* Some locations that may continue to experience flooding include...
Elberton, Bowman, Dewy Rose and Vanna.
* Additional heavy rainfall is possible tonight through Friday
morning and may cause new flooding to develop. Please stay
weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings if
additional flooding occurs. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect
until 1200 PM EDT Friday for portions of northeast Georgia,
western North Carolina, and upstate South Carolina.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
