...The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids MI has issued a 
Flood Warning for the following rivers in Michigan...

  Red Cedar River At East Lansing affecting Ingham County.

.Heavy rain last night will cause the Red Cedar River to rise 
quickly today through Saturday morning, when it is expected to 
crest. The river is expected to reach flood stage in East Lansing 
after midnight tonight.

For the Red Cedar...including East Lansing...Minor flooding is 
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet 
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, 
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, 
stop, turn around and go another way.

* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just 
  after midnight tonight to a crest of 8.1 feet Saturday morning. It 
  will then fall below flood stage Sunday evening.
* Impact...At 8.0 feet, Expect minor flooding of the Michigan State 
  University athletic fields. The Potter Park Zoo parking lot in 
  Lansing begins to flood.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 8.1 
  feet on 02/16/1915.
