The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of northwest Georgia, 
  including the following areas, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, 
  Walker and Whitfield.

* From late tonight through Wednesday morning.

* Rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Fred will begin to move 
  into North and Central Georgia early Tuesday morning and spread 
  across the area through the day. Two to five inches of rain is 
  expected through the flash flood watch, with isolated heavier 
  amounts. Heavy rainfall on top of saturated soils will lead to 
  flash flooding. As Fred moves through, additional bands of 
  rainfall may cause training of storms through Wednesday morning 
  that may exacerbate or lead to additional flash flood issues.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of north central Georgia, northeast Georgia and northwest 
  Georgia, including the following areas, in north central Georgia, 
  Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Hall, Lumpkin, Pickens 
  and Union. In northeast Georgia, Banks, Jackson, Towns and White. 
  In northwest Georgia, Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, 
  Gordon, Murray, Walker and Whitfield.

* Through Wednesday morning.

* As the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred continue to exit the state, 
  light to moderate rain is still possible. Many locations have 
  already received 2 to 4 inches of rain, with higher amounts to 6 
  inches. Additional rainfall of up to 1 to 1.5 inches are possible 
  over north Georgia, with slightly higher amounts of up to 2 inches 
  possible in far northeast Georgia. Heavy rainfall falling on 
  already saturated soils will produce flash flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action 
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

The Flash Flood Watch for portions of north central Georgia, 
northeast Georgia and northwest Georgia, including the following 
areas, in north central Georgia, Cherokee, Forsyth and Hall. In 
northeast Georgia, Banks and Jackson. In northwest Georgia, Bartow, 
Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd and Walker has been cancelled.

The heaviest rainfall associated with the remnants of Fred have 
moved off to the north. Some patchy light rain may continue over the 
next few hours. Although the risk of flash flooding has diminished 
over the area, runoff is still accumulating in the rivers and creeks 
and additional rises are still possible.
