Winds will continue to increase this afternoon and peak around 20 to 30 mph. At the same time, minimum relative humidities will fall to 7 to 12 percent. Winds will subside by Wednesday evening, only to return area wide on Thursday as critical fire weather conditions expand in coverage to south central portions of New Mexico and parts of Far West Texas. The strongest winds for Thursday are expected for much of Southwest New Mexico, the southern portions of the Gila, and the northern portions of the Rio Grande Valley.
