The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Hidalgo County in deep south Texas...

* Until 600 PM CDT.

* At 415 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms 
  producing heavy rain along  Frontage roads along I-2 and portions 
  of the Interstate 2 in the Weslaco area. Between 2 and 3 inches of 
  rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 inches in 1 
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in 
  the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

  Harlingen, Weslaco, Mercedes, Progreso, Estero Llano Grande State 
  Park, Llano Grande, Llano Grande Country Club, Progreso High 
  School, South Texas High School For Health Professions, Progreso 
  City Offices, Weslaco East High School, Black Elementary School, 
  Knapp Medical Center, Isaac D. Rodriguez Park, Mercedes Memorial 
  Library, Mercedes Police Department, Mercedes High School, Villa 
  Verde, Weslaco City Park and Taylor Elementary School.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
