EVENING FOR CENTRAL CORTLAND COUNTY...

At 635 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated 1.5 and 3 inches of heavy 
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to a half inch are 
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing and several 
flooded roads have been shut down.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
         flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Marathon, McGraw, East Homer, Mc Graw and Freetown Corners.

Though little additional rain is expected tonight, responses to the 
earlier heavy rain are ongoing. Some roads remain closed due to high 
water or debris.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
