...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM MONDAY TO 6 AM AKST
TUESDAY SOUTH AND WEST OF GLENNALLEN...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 24
  inches expected south of the Edgerton Highway. Snow 
  accumulations of 6 to 12 inches along the Glenn Highway west of 
  Glennallen. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Along the Richardson Highway south of the the Edgerton
  Highway junction, and along the Glenn Highway west of
  Glennallen.

* WHEN...From 5 AM Monday to 6 AM AKST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery and difficult road conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will begin to overspread the region
  from south to north early Monday morning peaking in intensity
  late Monday morning through Monday evening. Snowfall rates
  during the peak of the event may reach as high as 1 inch per
  hour along the Glenn Highway, and up to 2 inches per hour at
  times along the Richardson Highway. Conditions will improve
  Monday evening along the Glenn Highway, but will persist through
  late Monday night along the Richardson Highway.
  

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous. If you must travel,
keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case
of an emergency.

LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH THOMPSON PASS...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations up to 24
  inches possible. Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to
  45 mph expected.

* WHERE...Thompson Pass.

* WHEN...From late tonight through late Monday night.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery and difficult road conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will begin to overspread the region
  from south to north late tonight/early Monday peaking in
  intensity late Monday morning through Monday evening. Snowfall
  rates during the peak of the event may reach as high as 2 inches
  per hour. Conditions will begin to slowly improve early Tuesday
  morning with subsiding winds and precipitation becoming more 
  showery. Due to the wet nature of the snow, blowing snow is not 
  expected and should keep visibilities a bit higher.

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations up to 24
  inches possible. East winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 
  mph expected.

* WHERE...Turnagain Pass.

* WHEN...From late Sunday night through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery and difficult road conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will begin to overspread the region 
  from southeast to northwest late Sunday night/early Monday 
  peaking in intensity Monday morning through Monday evening. 
  Snowfall rates during the peak of the event may reach as high 
  as 2 inches per hour through the Pass. Conditions will begin 
  to slowly improve Monday evening with subsiding winds and 
  precipitation becoming more showery. Due to the wet nature of 
  the snow, blowing snow is not expected and should keep 
  visibilities a bit higher.

THROUGH THOMPSON PASS...

Winter Storm Watch is cancelled for Thompson Pass. While heavy
snow remains expected with between 18 to 24 inches of snow, it is
expected to occur over greater than a 12 hour period.

MONDAY EVENING FOR TURNAGAIN PASS...

Winter Storm Watch is cancelled for Turnagain Pass. While snow is
still expected, there is a great deal of warm air that is expected
to come northward with this system leading to rising snow levels
possibly to or above pass level. Therefore, a rain/snow mix is
anticipated for Monday morning/afternoon as temperatures will be
hovering near to slightly above freezing. Since mixing is
expected, this will greatly reduce snowfall amount with only 6 to
10 inches possible for this event.
