A low pressure system will move across our region today, bringing showers and a risk of thunderstorms to the beaches of Orange and San Diego Counties, through this afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms will bring the risk of lightning strikes, heavy downpours, small hail, and gusty winds. The threat of thunderstorms will decrease late this afternoon as the low pressure system moves east of our region. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong rip currents...elevated surf heights...minor tidal overflow...or lightning are possible at local beaches. Obey posted warning signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming. Use caution when in or near the water and always swim near a lifeguard. && $$ jmb weather.gov
