SOUTHWESTERN FREMONT...NORTHWESTERN CUSTER AND NORTHEASTERN SAGUACHE
COUNTIES...
At 340 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated light showers across the
warned area but with additional thunderstorm development still
around the Hayden Pass Burn Scar. Up to one inch of rain has already
fallen, mainly across the far western side of the burn scar. Flash
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash
flooding.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hayden Pass Burn Scar.
Additional rainfall amounts of up to two tenths are possible in the
warned area. However, if a stronger storm were to move across the
burn scar, then higher amounts would be possible.
This includes the following areas, Cutty's Resort On Hayden Creek
Road and Big Cottonwood Creek along County Road 40.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
