938 WWUS81 KPHI 061234 SPSPHI Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ 834 AM EDT Thu Aug 6 2020 NJZ020-022-025>027-061300- Coastal Atlantic-Coastal Ocean-Ocean-Atlantic-Southeastern Burlington- 834 AM EDT Thu Aug 6 2020 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT CENTRAL ATLANTIC...SOUTH CENTRAL OCEAN AND SOUTHEASTERN BURLINGTON COUNTIES... At 833 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Mays Landing, or 12 miles northwest of Atlantic City, moving northeast at 25 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm. Locations impacted include... Atlantic City, Pleasantville, Brigantine, Northfield, Absecon, Egg Harbor City, Port Republic, Pomona, Mays Landing, Wading River, Bass River State Forest, New Gretna and Mystic Island. This includes the following highways... Garden State Parkway between mile markers 35 and 56. Atlantic City Expressway between mile markers 5 and 19. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They can relay your report to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly NJ.
