...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Rough Surf and a High Risk of life threatening rip
  currents expected.

* WHERE...Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin 
  Counties.

* WHEN...From 7 AM EDT this morning through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming conditions in the surf zone today
  through Friday. Long period Northeast swells will bring rough
  surf and a High Risk of strong rip currents to the beaches of
  east central Florida today through Friday. Rip currents can 
  sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Entering the surf is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

  zone again today. Long period Northeast swells will continue to
  bring rough surf and a High Risk of strong rip currents to the
  beaches of east central Florida. Rip currents can sweep even 
  the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. A drowning 
  associated with a rip current occurred yesterday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Entering the surf is not recommended.
