...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM EST THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Southward flowing longshore current and a Moderate risk
  of rip currents expected.

* WHERE...Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin
  counties. 

* WHEN...through this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...A strong southward flowing longshore current will
  exist today at area beaches, which can knock swimmers off the
  sandbar into deeper water and make them more susceptible to rip
  currents.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
