For the Beach Hazards Statement, strong southward flowing longshore current and Moderate Risk for rip currents. * WHERE...Southern Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Coastal Volusia and Northern Brevard Counties. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 4 PM EST Tuesday. For the Beach Hazards Statement, from 7 AM EST this morning through this evening. * IMPACTS...Some flooding of low-lying lots, parks and roadways may occur near the shoreline around times of high tide. At area beaches, a strong southward flowing longshore current will exist today, which can knock swimmers off the sandbar into deeper water and make them more susceptible to rip currents. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Above normal high tides will continue through early this week. The highest of the high tides cycles will occur during the morning hours around 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM today, and around 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM Tuesday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Onshore winds and above normal tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. && $$
