...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Rough surf expected and a Moderate Risk of life-
  threatening rip currents.

* WHERE...Southern Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, 
  Coastal Volusia and Northern Brevard Counties.

* WHEN...From 6 AM this morning through 7 PM this evening.

* IMPACTS...Large breaking waves can knock you off your feet, and
  make you even more susceptible to being caught in the seaward
  pull of a rip current. Do not swim alone and never try to swim 
  directly against currents that occur at the beaches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents, and large breaking waves of 6 to
  9 feet in the surf zone on Saturday afternoon, increasing to 8 
  to 12 feet on Sunday. 

* WHERE...Along the Central Florida Atlantic coast, including 
  Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, Saint Lucie and Martin Counties.

* WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through Sunday evening. 
  For the High Surf Advisory, from 1 PM Saturday to 7 PM Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
  localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
  swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing
localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.
Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking
waves and dangerous surf conditions.

Entering the surf is not advised as rip currents can sweep away even
the strongest swimmers.
