...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Strong northward flowing ocean current will parallel the
  beach. Also, long period east swells will produce A Moderate Risk
  of life threatening rip currents at area beaches.

* WHERE...Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin 
  Counties.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Longshore currents can knock swimmers off the sandbar
  into deeper water and make them more susceptible to rip 
  currents.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Swim only within sight of a lifeguard and
  never try to swim directly against currents that occur at the
  beaches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against 
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline.
If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
