...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Strong northward flowing current parallel to the beach.

* WHERE...Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin 
          counties.

* WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong northward flowing current can knock swimmers
  off sandbars into deeper water and make them more susceptible to
  rip currents.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...If no lifeguard is present, think twice
  about entering the surf. Be aware that beach closures are in
  effect for some communities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
