...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Rough surf and a High Risk of life-threatening rip 
  currents expected.

* WHERE...Southern Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, 
  Coastal Volusia and Northern Brevard Counties.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surf conditions. The rough surf
  can knock you down and make you more susceptible to being caught
  in the seaward pull of a rip current. While rip currents will be
  present all day, the threat will be highest surrounding the low
  tide cycle from 1030 AM this morning through 5 PM this afternoon.
  Entering the water is strongly discouraged.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...To reduce your risk of becoming caught in 
  the seaward pull of a rip current, swim only within sight of a 
  lifeguard, and never swim alone.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

* WHAT...For the Beach Hazards Statement, a high risk of rip
  currents. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6
  to 8 feet. 

* WHERE...Southern Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, 
  Coastal Volusia and Northern Brevard Counties.

* WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, until 8 PM EDT this
  evening. For the High Surf Advisory, from 8 PM this evening to 
  11 PM EDT Monday. 

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
  localized beach erosion through Monday evening. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Beach erosion is possible around the times
  of high tide which occur around 8 pm this evening and from 8 am
  to 9 am on Monday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing
localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.
Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking
waves and dangerous surf conditions.
