The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
West central Sangamon County in central Illinois...
Eastern Morgan County in west central Illinois...
* Until 745 PM CDT.
* At 345 PM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Two cars were
stranded 2 miles northwest of Franklin at Rees Corner on IL route
104 from flood waters. Up to 2 to 3 inches of rain have already
fallen in past hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly. An additional 1.5 to 2 inches of rain is possible
through 5 pm and may lead to more flash flooding.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM CDT FOR
WEST CENTRAL SANGAMON AND EASTERN MORGAN COUNTIES...
At 515 PM CDT, doppler radar indicated that the heaviest rain has
moved out of the warned area. Emergency management in Morgan County
reported flooding on Illinois Route 104 at Rees Corner, 2 miles
northwest of Franklin. Radar estimates and observer reports
indicated 1.50 to 3.00 inches rain from 10 miles southwest of
Franklin through Franklin to New Berlin.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Emergency management.
IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage
and low lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Alexander, Franklin, and New Berlin.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.50 to 1.00 inch are possible in the
warned area between 530 pm and 730 pm.
This includes Interstate 72 between mile markers 72 and 89.
