Northwestern Brunswick County in southeastern North Carolina...
East central Columbus County in southeastern North Carolina...
* Until 745 AM EDT.
* At 650 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain over Honey Island. Some areas have received up to 8
inches of rain within the past 3 to 4 hours. Flash flooding is
expected to begin shortly or may already be occurring. Although
the heaviest rain has ended, runoff from small basins and
standing water may cause additional issues.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive your vehicle into areas where
the water covers the road. Flood waters are usually deeper than they
appear. Flowing water may be powerful enough to sweep vehicles off
the road.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. The water depth will be hard to determine and
washed out or damaged roads may be difficult to identify. Avoid
flooded areas or roads that have been closed. Keep a safe distance
from the banks of swiftly moving streams, creeks, and ditches. If
flash flooding is observed, turn around, don't drown.
