586 WWUS84 KEWX 090829 RFWEWX URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 329 AM CDT Tue Jun 9 2020 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY FOR VAL VERDE COUNTY DUE TO WINDY AND DRY CONDITIONS BEHIND A SUMMER COLD FRONT... .A summer cold front will move through this morning into the afternoon hours and produce breezy conditions as very dry air filters into the area. This will result in wide spread near- critical fire weather with pockets of critical fire weather across Val Verde County. Northwest winds are forecast to be strongest late this morning through the early afternoon hours while relative humidity values drop into the single digits. The Texas Forest Service has areas around Del Rio in very high to extreme fire danger for the day. The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 10 AM this morning to 6 PM CDT this evening. * WINDS...Northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 7 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly due to the breezy and dry conditions. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly.
