...Scattered thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening...

.Scattered thunderstorms are expected to begin to develop early
this afternoon across the area. Storms may continue into the
evening hours. Although storms are expected to produce more
rainfall today, frequent lightning strikes outside of the rain
cores may product fire starts.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 10 PM THIS 
EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from noon today to 10 PM this 
evening. 

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 204 and 283.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop
  area, with the most coverage across northern zone 283 and the
  eastern portion of zone 204. Storms may produce numerous
  lightning strikes, as well as strikes outside of the rain 
  cores.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...Wind gusts to 40 mph are possible in the
  strongest thunderstorms.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Lightning activity has diminished substantially. Isolated
cloud to ground lightning strikes will be possible around the 
horn of Trinity County near Siskiyou County until 11 PM.
