light to moderate snowfall to the area today. Falling temperatures
with bitter cold conditions will follow late tonight into Thursday
morning. The combination of falling snow and winds gusting in

...Blizzard Conditions and Strong Winds will continue Tonight...

.Snow is gradually ending from west to east as a winter storm
continues to traverse the area. Falling temperatures, inducing
bitter cold conditions, will continue through tonight and into
Thursday morning. The combination of falling snow and winds
gusting in excess of 50 mph at times have created blizzard
conditions across portions of northwest and northern Iowa. Those
with travel plans are strongly encouraged to plan accordingly and
be prepared to alter or cancel plans if travel is being
considered in portions of northwest or northern Iowa, much of
Minnesota, or the eastern Dakotas.

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations 
  of 2 to 5 inches with the higher totals closer to the Iowa 
  Minnesota border. Winds gusting to around 55 mph.

* WHERE...Northern Iowa.

* WHEN...Until 3 AM CST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Snow and blowing snow will significantly reduce
  visibility to near zero at times resulting in extremely
  dangerous travel conditions that will be near impossible in some
  areas.

continue this morning, especially in open areas. The primary 
weather story will turn to bitterly cold temperatures today
through Christmas morning. Temperatures across northern Iowa
should be no better than then single digits above zero, and down
into the single digits below zero at night.
