a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Virginia...

  Dan River at South Boston affecting Halifax County


One to as much as three inches fell across the Dan River basin
Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday. This will create minor
flooding along the Dan River at South Boston beginning this evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas...the water may be much deeper 
than you think.

  the Dan River at South Boston
* from this evening until late Friday night
* At 09AM Thursday the stage was 14.8 feet and rising.
* Flood Stage is 19.0 feet. 
* Minor flooding is forecast. 
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to 
  rise to near 20.8 feet by Friday morning. The river will fall 
  below flood stage by Friday afternoon.
* Impact...at 19.0 feet...Flooding begins in low-lying agricultural 
  land and woods.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 20.5 
  feet on Jun 10 2019.

is now beginning to fall. New forecasts project that the Dan River 
will continue to fall for the next several days. Thus, the flood
warning is being cancelled.
