The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
West central Huerfano County in southeastern Colorado...
Northeastern Costilla County in south central Colorado...
* Until 1000 PM MDT.
* At 759 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding in
northern portions of the Spring burn scar. Only some areas of
light rain were continuing to fall, but heavy rain earlier has
caused flooding which is expected to continue.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Spring Burn Scar north of Highway 160.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flows.
The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose
materials.
This includes the following streams and drainages...Chavez Arroyo...
Yellowstone Creek...North Abeyta Creek...South Abeyta Creek...South
Oak Creek...Pass Creek and Oak Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

WEST CENTRAL HUERFANO AND NORTHEASTERN COSTILLA COUNTIES...
At 854 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated light rain over northern
portions of the Spring burn scar, and around 8 PM law enforcement
reported areas of flash flooding.
There may still be flooding and debris flows moving across northern
portions of the burn scar through 10 PM. Debris flows can consist of
rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Creek...North abeyta Creek...South Abeyta Creek...South Oak
Creek...Pass Creek and Oak Creek.

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
