443 AM CDT Wed Apr 10 2019

...A MAJOR MID APRIL WINTER STORM WILL SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA THROUGH WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN
WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

.A Blizzard Warning remains in effect northwest of a line from
Redwood Falls to Saint Cloud. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect
for much of central Minnesota. A Winter Weather Advisory is in
effect for portions of Southern Minnesota, east central Minnesota,
and West Central Wisconsin.

A major mid April winter storm is expected starting this evening
lasting into early Friday morning. Confidence is high that a band
of heavy snow will reach western and central Minnesota tonight
and continue through Thursday night, tapering off in intensity
gradually Friday morning. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour
will be possible at times. Periods of mixed precipitation in the
form of rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet are expected along
and south of a line from Redwood Falls, to the Saint Cloud, to
Ladysmith, Wisconsin. There is medium confidence in where this
transition zone will set up. A tighter gradient in snowfall
totals than currently forecast should be expected along this zone.

Winds will increase tonight with gusts of 45 to 55 mph by
Thursday. This will produce areas of blowing snow over much of
central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin. Blizzard
conditions are likely across west central Minnesota. Travel could
become nearly impossible in this area by Thursday.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
1050 AM CDT Wed Apr 10 2019

...A MAJOR MID APRIL WINTER STORM WILL SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA THROUGH WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN
WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

...LOCALLY 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW ACROSS FAR SOUTHERN MINNESOTA
THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON...

.A Blizzard Warning remains in effect northwest of a line from
Redwood Falls to Saint Cloud. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect
for much of central Minnesota. A Winter Weather Advisory is in
effect for portions of Southern Minnesota, east central
Minnesota, and West Central Wisconsin. In addition, a Winter
Weather Advisory has been expanded farther east and north across
portions of southwestern and south central Minnesota through this
afternoon.

A major mid April winter storm will affect Minnesota and west
central Wisconsin through Friday.

An initial band of snow, heavy at times, will gradually shift
northward through southern Minnesota this morning, and into the
afternoon. Locally 3 to 6 inches of snow will fall in the advisory
area through the afternoon, before tapering off to light snow,
mixed with sleet and rain at time along the Iowa border toward 6
pm.

Slowly, this band of snow will reach western and central
Minnesota tonight and continue through Thursday night, tapering
off in intensity gradually Friday morning. Snowfall rates of 1 to
2 inches per hour will be possible at times. Periods of mixed
precipitation in the form of rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet
are expected along and south of a line from Redwood Falls, to the
Saint Cloud, to Ladysmith, Wisconsin. There is medium confidence
in where this transition zone will set up. A tighter gradient in
snowfall totals than currently forecast should be expected along
this zone.

Winds will increase tonight with gusts of 45 to 55 mph by
Thursday. This will produce areas of blowing snow over much of
central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin. Blizzard
conditions are likely across west central Minnesota. Travel could
become nearly impossible in this area by Thursday.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
1222 PM CDT Wed Apr 10 2019

...MAJOR CHANGE TO WINTER STORM...

...SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW SPREADING NORTHWARD ACROSS SOUTHERN
MINNESOTA THIS AFTERNOON....

.A Blizzard Warning remains in effect northwest of a line from
Redwood Falls to Saint Cloud. A Winter Storm Warning is now in
effect for much of southern and central Minnesota, including the
Twin Cities metro area. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in
effect for portions of south central Minnesota, and West Central
Wisconsin.

An initial band of snow, heavy at times, will gradually shift
northward through southern Minnesota, and into central Minnesota,
as well as portions of west central Wisconsin this afternoon.
Locally 3 to 6 inches of snow will fall before tapering off some
in the late afternoon and early evening. However, more snow,
heavy at times, will redevelop across Minnesota, and into west
central Wisconsin later this evening, and overnight. Based on
snowfall totals increasing from Fairmont, northeast to the Twin
Cities and portions of west central Wisconsin, the Winter Weather
Advisory has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning. The new
Winter Storm Warning is west of a line from Fairmont to Faribault
to Hastings in Minnesota, to Prescott, to Rice Lake in Wisconsin.

Slowly, the band of heavy snow this afternoon will reach western
and central Minnesota by late this afternoon. There could be a
brief period late this afternoon, and into the evening where
snowfall intensity is less, but redevelopment of heavy snow is
likely later this evening, and into the overnight hours across
most of southern Minnesota, with the exception along the Iowa
border where more sleet and rain will become mixed in.

Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible at
times, especially this afternoon. Periods of mixed precipitation
in the form of rain, snow, and sleet are expected along and south
of a line from Redwood Falls, to the Saint Cloud, to Ladysmith,
Wisconsin starting Thursday morning as much warmer air surges
northward.

Winds will increase tonight with gusts of 45 to 55 mph by
Thursday. This will produce areas of blowing snow over much of
central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin. Blizzard
conditions are likely across west central Minnesota. Travel could
become nearly impossible in this area by Thursday.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
323 PM CDT Wed Apr 10 2019

...MAJOR WINTER STORM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY...

...HEAVY SNOWFALL CONTINUES FROM CENTRAL MINNESOTA THROUGH WEST-
CENTRAL WISCONSIN THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING....

.A Blizzard Warning remains in effect northwest of a line from
Redwood Falls to Saint Cloud. A Winter Storm Warning is now in
effect for Polk, Barron, and St. Croix counties in Wisconsin, and
remains in effect for much of southern and central Minnesota,
including the Twin Cities metro area. A Winter Weather Advisory
remains in effect for portions of south central Minnesota, and
West Central Wisconsin.

An initial band of snow, heavy at times, will pivot over central
Minnesota into portions of west central Wisconsin this afternoon
and evening. Locally 3 to 6 inches of snow will fall before
tapering off some into the evening. However, more snow, heavy at
times, will redevelop across Minnesota, and into west central
Wisconsin later this evening, and overnight. Have expanded the
Winter Storm Warning into portions of west-central Wisconsin based
on the expected location of this initial band of snow

As this initial band dissipates this evening, a brief lull in
snowfall may occur for a few hours tonight. Redevelopment of heavy
snow is expected during the overnight hours, with the heaviest
snow occurring overnight through Thursday afternoon. Snowfall
amounts of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible during this
time, with the heaviest snowfall expected across western
Minnesota. Periods of mixed precipitation in the form of rain,
snow, and sleet are expected along and south of a line from
Redwood Falls, through the Twin Cities metro, to Ladysmith,
Wisconsin starting Thursday morning as much warmer air surges
northward. This mixed precipitation will likely diminish snowfall
totals across these areas tomorrow afternoon, especially across
southern Minnesota.

Storm-total snowfall amounts of more than 20 inches look possible
across western Minnesota where the heaviest snowfall is expected.
Amounts of 8 to 16 inches are expected in areas under the Winter
Storm Morning, with amounts decreasing from west to east across
Minnesota into Wisconsin. Accumulations under 4 to 6 inches are
expected in areas under the Winter Storm Advisory, where mixed
precipitation will predominate.

Winds will increase tonight with gusts of 45 to 55 mph by
Thursday. This will produce areas of blowing snow over much of
central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin. Blizzard
conditions are likely across west central Minnesota. Travel will
likely become nearly impossible in this area by Thursday.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
941 PM CDT Wed Apr 10 2019

...MAJOR WINTER STORM CONTINUES INTO FRIDAY...

.A Blizzard Warning remains in effect west of a line from Redwood
Falls to Saint Cloud. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect
northwest of a line from Blue Earth to Red Wing. A Winter Weather
Advisory remains in effect for portions of south central
Minnesota, and Pepin County Wisconsin.

An initial band of snow will continue through the early overnight
hours across central Minnesota into northern Wisconsin. However,
another band of heavy snow will redevelop across southern
Minnesota around midnight and lift north through the night,
reaching central Minnesota and northern Wisconsin early Thursday
morning. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be
possible with that band. Warmer air aloft will turn the snow to
sleet Thursday morning along and south of a line from Redwood
Falls to Saint Cloud to Mora. The sleet could turn to rain by
afternoon across southern and eastern Minnesota into western
Wisconsin, while heavy snow continues across western Minnesota.

Storm total snowfall amounts of more than 20 inches are likely across
western Minnesota where the heaviest snowfall is expected.
Amounts of 8 to 16 inches are expected in areas under the Winter
Storm Warning, with amounts decreasing from west to east across
Minnesota into Wisconsin. Additional accumulations of 3 to 5 inches
are possible in areas under the Winter Weather Advisory.

Winds will increase tonight with gusts of 50 to 60 mph by
Thursday morning. This will produce areas of blowing snow over
much of central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin.
Blizzard conditions are likely across west central Minnesota, but
could develop for a brief time late tonight into Thursday morning over
the rest of central and eastern Minnesota, including the Twin
Cities metro, before the transition to sleet occurs. Travel will
likely become impossible across western Minnesota Thursday, and
will be quite difficult elsewhere Thursday morning.
