For the High Rip Current Risk, numerous strong, dangerous Rip Currents expected. * WHERE...Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, from 7 AM this morning to 7 PM Sunday. For the High Rip Current Risk, from 7 AM this morning through 7 PM Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions. Localized beach erosion around the times of high tides. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...The next high tides along the central Florida Atlantic coast will occur between 130 and 200 PM this afternoon, around 800 PM tonight, between 215 and 230 AM Friday morning, and between 230 and 300 PM Friday afternoon. The threat for Rip Currents will be highest today through about 1100 AM this morning and again this afternoon after 500 PM. On Friday, the Rip Current threat will be highest through 1130 AM and right around the time of sunset at 530 PM. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking waves and dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. && $$
